Northland Cancer Society

Support for patients, families/whanau and carers

Nursing Services

Our Liaison nurses are based in Whangarei, Bay of Islands and Kaitaia and work throughout Northland providing information and support to cancer patients, their families/whanau or caregivers, before, during and after cancer treatment.

If you have been diagnosed with cancer and need to seek help and support, this service is available to you.  Our nurses will provide you and/or your family/whanau with emotional support working through information and issues, helping you to come to terms with this new diagnosis.

We will listen and assess your need for practical assistance by providing information on financial and other support that may be available within the community. We can refer you to other Cancer Society services such as Aromatherapy, and professional counselling , or put you in contact with other men and women undergoing similar treatments enabling you to share experiences.

If you would like to contact a Cancer Liaison Nurse in your area, please telephone Daffodil House (09) 437 5593 or Freephone : 0800 366 066.

Support Groups

The Cancer Society Support Groups aim to provide a safe, supportive and confidential place for people whose lives are affected by cancer, to meet and talk with others.

People who are experiencing various types of cancer and treatment regimes meet monthly to provide friendship and practical and emotional support to each other.  A Cancer Society Liaison Nurse facilitates all Support Group meetings

For further information on group meetings nearest to you phone Daffodil House (09) 437 5593 or 0800 366 066.
