Why I became a volunteer

Christine - Meal Service Volunteer - 8 years

I was wanting to do some sort of voluntary work for many years.  As I work full time, preparing meals for cancer patients fitted in perfectly with my lifestyle.

I do most of my cooking in the evenings and as cooking for me is a hobby and a form of relaxation,  I am fortunate to have found this type of voluntary work.   I prepare, package and freeze meals at home, and then normally deliver them to Domain Lodge during the weekend, once every four to five weeks.  The meals are then delivered out to patients by other volunteers.

It gives me a feeling of great satisfaction to know that I am able to help people during their time of need.
