Driving Others 

Our Volunteer Drivers work between the hours of 9am and 3.30pm Monday to Friday (avoiding rush hour traffic). Driving volunteers provide transport assistance to cancer patients to enable them to successfully attend medical appointments and treatments at hospitals and clinics throughout the Auckland area.   We provide a travel allowance and parking permits.

The length of time required to complete drives can be 2 - 3 hours. 

As a Volunteer Driver you are providing transport to : 

  • Patients who have no family or friends available to help
  • Patients who are elderly and cannot cope in city traffic,    or
  • Patients who are unable to drive themselves because of their illness

 Our Volunteer Drivers need to :

  • Have good English language skills  (5.5 IELTS)
  • Have a friendly caring manner and be a great listener
  • Be patient, understanding and able to work with people of all social, religious and cultural backgrounds 
  • Hold a current New Zealand driver’s licence and up-to-date motor vehicle insurance
