Make a Bequest
When you have done all you can to provide for your family, you can give no better gift for future generations than progress in the prevention and control of cancer, or improved treatments for people diagnosed with cancer.
Bequests form a major part of our income and much of our work could not continue if it were not for people choosing to remember us in their wills.
No matter how small or large the financial gift, property or asset you choose to bequest, it is greatly appreciated. All bequest income is invested prudently to recognise the achievement of a lifetime’s saving.
If you choose to make an investment in the control of cancer with a bequest to the Cancer Society Auckland, please let us know so we can thank you personally. Too often, we only hear of a donor’s generosity and thoughtfulness after their passing. We would very much appreciate the opportunity to show our gratitude during the bequestor’s lifetime.
In your will, you can choose to bequeath the Cancer Society Auckland:
-
All or part of the residue from your estate, or
-
A nominated percentage of your estate, or
-
A specific gift
You can also indicate where you would like the bequest spent, e.g. cancer research, support & information services for patients and families, Domain Lodge, or for general purposes.
Your wlll is one of the most important documents you will ever write. A will is valid only if it is properly prepared and witnessed. Before discussing your will with a solicitor, Trustee Company, or the Public Trust Office, it is helpful to list all of your assets.
Any special conditions regarding your funeral arrangements or areas of importance to you should also be noted. Your will need to appoint an Executor(s). They are the people who ensure your wishes are carried out.
It is a good idea to review your will regularly, particularly if there are changes to your circumstances or relationships. In most cases, it is then preferable to prepare a new will. If the changes are minimal however, a codicil (amendment) can be added.
A Bequest to Fight Cancer - A life long gift
Whatever you choose to do, your gift will make a difference.
